I was accepted onto the GraphiteLab team in the summer of 2019 as their Game Design Intern. During that time, I designed levels for RCT: Story and created detailed game design documentation for three intern projects. I also created and presented pitch documentation for seven games, managed team meetings, and created game trailers for the intern projects listed below. Click the project title for more info!

Rollercoaster tycoon story
May 13 - August 9, 2019

RollerCoaster Tycoon® Story is the first match-3 puzzle game in the acclaimed RollerCoaster Tycoon® series. I made 20+ puzzles using proprietary level generation tools and setup hidden domino-effects to guide the player towards a pleasurable win-state. I also tested dozens of existing levels, noting any bugs in the company documentation.

Save the water
May 13 - August 9, 2019

For this educational puzzle game, I conducted research on real-world waste management to create semi-realistic gameplay systems. I created the pipe placement system which asks players to budget while playing up the importance of water treatment. I also designed 30 levels for the game where water is always flowing, forcing players to make quick decisions and find inventive solutions to difficult puzzles. I carried out several playtest sessions and used that data to balance the cost of pipes, length of levels, the speed of the water, and so on. I also made the game trailer.

Magnet Opus
May 13 - August 9, 2019

In my team of four interns I championed the project pitch for Magnet Opus, convincing Graphite Lab leadership to greenlight the project. I designed and tested our three levels which each focused on performing combat and traversal with a magnetic suit. I wrote and maintained the game design document which includes enemy designs, spawning behaviours, tuning variables, and more. I also managed tasks in Trello, created this game trailer, and implemented sounds into gameplay code.

Phantom Frogger
May 13 - August 9, 2019

This was the first project the interns put together for our internal game jam. A dark twist on the arcade classic Frogger, players possess humans and run them into traffic or possess traffic and bring it to the humans. The team used this project to get to know each other and test the skills we would be developing over the next 3 months.
